The PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir has directed employees of government departments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to attend the main Republic Day function in Jammu and warned them of disciplinary action in case they remain absent from the function. In a circular issued by Additional Secretary Subash Chibber, the officials of state government and PSUs stationed at Jammu were directed to attend the Republic Day function in winter capital as part of their official duty. The main Republic Day function would be held at M A Stadium, where Governor N N Vohra will take the salute. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and other cabinet ministers and legislators are expected to attend the function. The government directed all Heads of the Departments and Chief Executives of PSUs to ensure their participation and also of the employees subordinate to them in the Republic Day function. "The failure by officials and employees to attend R-Day function will be construed as dereliction of duty and disobedience of the government instructions," warned the government order. It further warned that disciplinary action as admissible under rules shall be initiated against those, who fail to attend the R-Day function in Jammu. The government order disclosed that despite clear instructions of the General Administration Department (GAD), many officials of the state government and PSUs did not attend the function on January 26 last year. "It (the absence of officials) was viewed seriously by the government and the officials were warned to remain cautious on this account in future," adds the official circular.
